Invasive Aquatic Plant Management Program

Proposed Invasive Aquatic Plant Management Program for both the west basin and the east basin of Mariaville Lake
The Mariaville Lake Civic Association is applying to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) for approval to use an aquatic herbicide in the spring of 2025 to control invasive Eurasian Watermilfoil, Curly Leaf Pondweed, and nuisance filamentous algae.
The proposed treatment includes:
- ProcellaCOR for the west basin
- Aquathol K for the east basin
- Copper Sulfate for algae control
The program will be conducted by a licensed applicator from the lake management firm Water & Wetland, which holds NYSDEC Pesticide Business Registration No. 18851. A permit application has been submitted to the NYSDEC for approval.
The treatment(s) are expected to take place between June 1st and August 31st, 2025, depending on permit approval and the appropriate growth stage of the target plants. The actual treatment date will be submitted to the NYSDEC at least seven days prior to application.
During the treatment, road access points around the lake will be posted with notices indicating applicable water use restrictions. After application, the following water use restrictions will apply:

Water samples will be collected to measure the concentration of herbicide in the water and determine when irrigation and drinking restrictions can be lifted. This process is expected to take 7 to 14 days after application.
